Well, I guess I should introduce myself now that I've decided to pen my thoughts to the world. You can call me Mike and I've discovered two things in life which are therapeutic to me. The first is photography and the second is being a sound studio. I get such a rush doing both (not at the same time, it will be an over dose!)
I'm going to keep this a photography blog site since I don't get to go into a recording studio these days for lack of opportunities (hint, hint!).
I shot film during my unversity days but I need instant gratification, too! So when digital came along, I paid $500 for a 1.3 mp Kodak camera in 1999, I know, crazy! Since then, I've gone through quite a few digital cameras and I shoot primarily with Canon equipment now.
I did pick up the world's smallest DSLR, an Olympus e-420 in Jun this year. I chose it for the smaller size. It is quite a capable little guy and I'm very happy with it. It has replaced all my point and shoots cameras and is now my go everywhere travel camera.
I've been waiting for the new Olympus Pen and would have bought it if it had three things: A much higher resolution LCD screen, an AF illuminator (since there's no build in flash), and more lenses. The answer to all three is quite simply to wait for the next few replacements. In the meantime I picked the e-420 kit for a mere $320 brand new! I added the 25mm f2.8 pancake without much hesitation.
So what should I do with my drawer full of point and shoots? There's the Minolta, Panasonic, Sony, Nikon, and Canon. Cameras don't have resale value, and that's a sad fact. I've sold a bunch on craigslist through the years but I've kept the Pana FZ5 for its reach and compactness, Canon 850is for the video capabilities, Minolta DimageX because no body wants it anymore, and the Nikons for the same reason.
I wonder what do others do with their unwanted, unused, but still in great working condition Point and Shoot cameras?
